An Ergonomic Evaluation and Analysis for Identifying Risk Factors that Contribute to Musculoskeletal Disorder among Automotive Shop Workers in Cavite

Abstract: This research paper presents a work undertaken in registered automotive shops in Cavite. The study aimed to evaluate and analyze the potential ergonomic risk factors that contribute to musculoskeletal disorders. The study also aimed to determine the significant relationship between ergonomic risk factors and musculoskeletal disorder symptoms. Ninety-two automotive shop workers in three different municipalities were selected as the participants in the study.. Data were collected through the use of validated and reliable survey questionnaire. Gathered data were statistically analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 19 program. In addition, Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) was employed to assess the exposure of individual workers to risk factors associated with posture inefficiency that probably lead to upper limb disorders. Lastly, the study recommends some solutions for the possible reduction of musculoskeletal disorders.
