Abstract: This study analyzed the effect of OHSAS 18001 on the occupational injury rate of selected OHSAS 18001 certified metal industries. Specifically, this research attempted to: determine the annual injury rate, business drivers in implementing OHSAS 18001 and assess the significant effect of barriers on the success in implementing OHSAS 18001 on the occupational injury rate of selected OHSAS 18001 certified metal industries in Cavite and Laguna. The results of this study indicated that OHSAS 18001 certified companies has lesser injury rate after implementing OHSAS 18001. Also, corporate policy and a good tool for improving health and safety performance persuades metal companies in implementing OHSAS 18001. Additionally, it was identified that several barriers have significant effects on the success of implementing OHSAS 18001.
