Analysis of Potential Health Hazards among Employees of Registered Hair Salons in Cavite

Abstract: The study was conducted to analyze the potential health hazards encountered by most employees of registered hair salons in Cavite. The data was gathered from 223 registered hair salons in Cavite with 446 participants using a descriptive survey method. Most of the employees often experienced musculoskeletal symptoms such as: hand, back, neck, upper body and lower body pain are common among the employees in hair salons because of repetitive movement at work. A number of factors that hair salon employees must be considered like exposure to chemical products they work with which affects their health conditions. The workplace environment should be optimized to make the environment as safe as possible. Employees should be kept aware of occupational hazards through continuous training and education of good work practices, procedures, and potential hazards related to product use, such as dermatitis, eye irritation and respiratory complaints.
