Employability Skills of Industrial Engineers Desired by the Selected Industries in Cavite

Abstract: This study descriptively determine the employability skills of industrial engineers, for entry and promotional level, desired by the selected industries in Cavite, Philippines. Using a choice-based type survey for the 19 participating companies, it is identified that work experience, personality traits, academic record and interview results are the top reason for hiring an industrial engineer for the positions of managerial, supervisory and technical level. The top five qualities employers are looking for in promoting an industrial engineer are leadership, good decision making, critical thinking, commitment, and loyalty. From the 35 industrial engineers which are randomly selected to be evaluated, results indicate that employers were very satisfied in the communication skills of the industrial engineers at their respective workplaces.
